Shot Composition

LO: To understand the basic rules of shot composition Monday 5th December

Rule Of Thirds

The rule of thirds means that the main focus of the image is not in the centre of the image, the main focus of the image is placed wherever two of the grid lines meet helping composition.

Images without the rule of thirds

Photographing people:
-Looking Room
-Head Room
-Eye Level

Peer Assessment by Aidan Brown.

WWW: Good use of looking room and you didn't cut the top of your head.
NTT: Use the same colours.

I think this is a well composed photo because it uses the rules really well, the rule of thirds is used really well and there is good contrast of colours.

This photo also uses the rules really well for photographing people, such as there is a good use of looking room, head room and eye level

Final Magazine Cover

Magazine Cover

Peer assessed by Drew Beau-Mont

WWW: the information sticks out well and it sticks out well

NTT: The picture is too dark

Self Assessment:

I agree that the the information sticks out well and is quite bold

I think next time instead of making the picture brighter I need to add some more cover lines, however   I still agree that the picture is a bit dark

Introduction To Photoshop

We used photoshop to create a zombie face using layers, the lasso toll and image adjustments.

This was my first attempt.

Self assessment

WWW: I managed to use the erase tool and the warp tool also the colours of the face managed to fit the colours of the zombie parts

NTT: To use the blend tool a bit more and to fill the majority of my face

Second Zombie Attempt

This time round I think I did better filling in the details of the face, like the eyes, nose and mouth

I could still attempt to fill more of the face

Facial expressions: A straight face to fit to the mood created by the colours
Font size: Large to attract attention, San Sarif

Institutions

Who makes what and for whom

Audience

We can define the audience by gender, age range, location, lifestyle, wealth, interests and class

Representation Thursday 22nd September

-Involves looking at how you see the world and how the world sees you
-Uses Stereotypes

The stereotype shows that he is the comical one

- His clothes are smart but he wears them very scruffy
- He looks quite happy so he might be happy with something he said or he did, or maybe he said a good joke
- His hair is quite normal so he might be a normal person or very comical

http://www.tellyads.com/play_advert/?filename=TA0889&advertiser=Brand%20Power&type=recent

Media Language - There are some close up camera shots to show what the product is, also to catch the eye of the viewer
Voiceover, sound and music - the voice over is loud so people know what it is about and the music at the start is very loud to also catch the ears and eyes of the viewers
Use of setting and colour - The colour is very bright to shows the product is good and if the viewer sees bright colours they will keep watching, also the setting is used to show where the product is available
Use of placement of people and objects - The people and objects are at the centre of the screen because that is where the viewer mostly looks
Facial expressions - The person looks happy to show that they are happy with the product
What are they trying to achieve? - They are trying to sell the product to the viewers
Who is the target audience? - The target audience is parents, I know this because it says 'perfect to put in your kids lunchboxes'
How has the product been represented? - It's been represented as a good product because it's says the product is perfect and useful

What is media?

What is Media?   Monday 12th September

L/O: To define what media is and how impacts upon our lives

Definition: "The main means of mass communication"

Types of Media

-TV Shows
-Magazines
-Social Network
-Films
-Apps
-Newspapers
-Adverts
-Films
-Radio
-Blogs
-Vlogs
-Email
-Texting
-Websites

The main purpose of Media is to make MONEY

Media Influence

The Media Influences me because it makes me think about what other people do   which then inspires me to attempt it.

I think it is powerful because it is the only way other than talking to find out what is going, also it is everywhere you go. For example one person has done something cool and has decided to post it on the internet, that person has 10,000 followers and now 10,000 people have seen it and shared it. Now all of their followers have seen and shared it. See how quickly it travels?

Media is important to the way I view the world because if I didn't have a device i could access instantly i would have to either buy a newspaper or wait for the news to come on TV. As soon as I open my phone or tablet I get notifications on what has gone on during the day. So if I didn't access a device I would not know what was going on in the world and I would think it would be a different place.
